I dive wrecks and have read other useful dive books. One reads these books to learn. The very few things this book does describe one can get in an intro certification classes, which frankly one should have to even consider diving wrecks. There was more time wasted listing other refferences to check out (ie places one can go to get info - kind of ironic) and recounting how his buddy used a knife to stab/kill a fish than any substance. Id go as far as to say that some of his suggestions on rigging equipment was laughable to dangerous. At points I could not tell if this was a joke. Please don't buy the book as you will only encourage this nut to make more publications. One can find better info on a blog than in this book.

I am very sorry I did not read what was then the second of two reviews for this book before purchasing it. I concur with that negative review. The book has very little to do with DIVING a ship wreck. The material covering topics actually related to how to dive shipwrecks, including equipment and technique, are laughably sparse. All of that is in the first part of the book, and it reads as if he was in a real hurry to get to what he really wanted to talk about. The biggest portions of the book deal with stories of collecting artifacts, including one really tiresome, long story about one artifact that he had a particularly tough time recovering. He takes a lot of time to tell you how to take care of them once you have them. He also talks about lobstering and spearfishing, which is barely on the topic of shipwreck diving. If you are of the school that likes to dive shipwrecks and leave them intact for others to enjoy, very little of this book will be meaningful to you. On a technical... Read more

Dan Berg writes in a great style and has a tremendous amount of diving experience diving in the Northeast U.S. Atlantic waters. This is a must read for anyone who is going to go diving on shipwrecks in the North Atlantic.
