The Sony DCR-SX45/L SD Flash Memory Camcorder is an entry-level camera that goes beyond the realm of the pocket cam. Providing you with a plethora of shooting controls and functions the SX45 gives you customization options and the freedom to let the camera do the heavy-lifting for you. Simply pop in a compatible media card: Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo, SD, or SDHC. The SX45's 1/8" CCD image sensor works together with the processor, Carl Zeiss lens, features like image stabilization and 70x Extended zoom and the 3.0" touch screen LCD to help you record your memories right to the memory card of your choosing.Of course, the aforementioned shooting controls do a fair amount of the work as well. Intelligent Auto, for instance, automatically selects the right setting for your shot from seven different scene modes, taking the guesswork out of recording. Other features like an LED video help you to take your best shots at night or in low light settings. When you're all done shooting and ready to share there's no need to fret. The SX45 comes with Sony's Picture Motion Browser software for editing with Windows based machines. PMB helps you to trim, add titles and otherwise customize your footage. It also helps you to upload your movies to your favorite social media sites.

Okay first there's the light which is little more than a hoax, but it does mean that it might need a light in lowlight conditions. It is very small, and light, flip the 3" LCD & the camera turns on and the lens opens immediately. The battery life is as good as any Sony camcorder and I have an older sony that I used for 2 years & never had to get another battery for it. Can count on at least an hours worth of juice, but you can power it with the ac adapter. It has no built in memory so you need to buy an SD card, 16GB is good. It does not have very good manual adjustments, just like all sony camcorders I suppose, but most of you will be using the iAuto anyways. Menu style is very user friendly. The biggest problem for me was picture quality. I understand this is a standard definition camcorder but in low light or indoors the picture was just to grainy. Outdoors the picture is okay but it could be better. The battery life wears down extremely fast so you must have a backup. Overall I should have paid an extra $200 and bought the CX110 model. Sound quality is so so. No need to mention for the low light. We paid what we got. A lot of noise in low light condition. I will not recommend this model to anyone. |
