Based on the past reviews for the prior version, I think Viewsonic must have upgraded the software (firmware?). It was easy to download the photos onto the frame. There is a quirk, that when you first attach the frame to your computer, it won't recognize it. But when you reboot the computer and attach the frame again, it will recognize it. It was documented in the manual so I was prepared. It will also read pictures off of a memory card (not Compact Flash, however) or from a thumb drive. The slideshow feature works, shuffling the pictures. There are a variety of transition effects available. The actual frame itself is also attractive. The only reason it isn't getting five stars is because the pictures originally looked a little flat on the screen. I went in and boosted the saturation on all of them, and they now look fantastic. Read more 23 of 26 people found the following review helpful:  viewsonic temporarily better than impecca and nix 15 inch digital photo frames, By andrea j. wong (greensboro, nc United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Viewsonic VFM1536-11 15-Inch Multimedia Digital Photo Frame (Electronics) i ended up buying 2 each of the impecca, nix, and viewsonic 15 inch digital photo frames. they all got returned except for the last viewsonic frame, which seems to work (at least for the past 3-4 days). the first impecca frame didn't work right out of the box so i sent it back and reordered another one. the second impecca worked for a week and then quit working altogether so i sent it back and gave up on the impecca. when the impecca did work, the dark colors were really dark and pretty much looked black which was not very pleasing. as far as looks go, i didn't like the wide black molding on the frame. it's really ugly and seemed to dwarf the picture part of the frame. the remote was pretty intuitive and responded well. i don't know if this has the auto-rotate function, but i didn't not notice any sideways pictures. the order wasn't really random as it played the same "random" order each time the power switch was turned on. next i tried the nix but the... On/off scheduler, screen size for price is competitive. Cons I was not impressed with the overall lcd picture quality. The wide boarder makes the screen look like 10" screen. The stand is a joke. Don't bother using it or you will find yourself with a broken screen after it falls. What were they thinking when they designed this? You'll need to secure it to the wall if you want to make sure it survives. |
